IPM Certification

Integrated Pest Management

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a control strategy using all available information to provide long term pest control.  IPM incorporates sustainable and environmentally sound methods such as; education, habitat modification, biological control, cultural control, and the use of, when necessary, least hazardous pesticides.

At The Toronto Golf Club we are committed to managing and maintaining the property using IPM practices that:

  • Are safe for humans and the environment
  • Are based upon site specific data
  • Search out and address the primary cause of a pest problem
  • Use alternatives to chemicals whenever it is possible
  • Use properly timed applications and treatments

Our objectives under IPM:

  • Reduce pesticide use on the property when possible
  • Provide sustainable playing conditions of the highest quality
  • Prevent undue toxic exposures to plants, soil, air, water, wildlife, and humans
  • Educate membership, the public, and staff about our ongoing efforts
  • Search out the best possible management strategy for each specific problem
