Watson Course - 9 Hole

Course Architect Background

Howard Watson 1907-1992

Howard Watson, who began working for Stanley Thompson the very day that Clinton Robinson did, started out on his own in 1950.

Much of his early, solo work was in the Caribbean on courses like Caymanas Golf and Country Club in Jamaica and Country Club de Medellin in Columbia.

Watson soon had excellent work in Canada to his credit, like Pinegrove Country Club and Carling Lake Golf Club in Quebec, Board of Trade Country Club and Rideau View Golf Club in Ontario and many others.

Although much of his work was concentrated in eastern Canada, mostly in Quebec and Ontario, he designed one course in both Manitoba and New Brunswick, and designed many courses in the United States.

He trained his son John, who started his own practice in the 1970’s.
